Where does the time go?

I recently went through a sales training where the manager gave us sheet of paper and had us write down what we did yesterday. I spent almost ten minutes listing what I did and accomplished for the day. It took ten minutes to list everything I did all day...!? 

When I looked back at the list I was a little bit surprised. I was amazed about how little I had actually done. I spent time answering emails, making sales calls, and using my phone. Was this the best use of my time? Could I have spent my time (and my company's time) more effectively  Absolutely the answer is yes!

Family Dentistry, What does this mean....? Part 3

Great job! You know how many women patients you have, You've changed your magazines in your reception area from what you learnedhere. You noticed patients are talking to you more because you asked how they enjoyed (insert any town event) last week. What do you do next?

Talk to your patients! Engage them like you would your neighbor. Ask them what they do on weekends. Ask them what they are reading on their Nook (which they brought in with them), Notice that they lost weight. Just think about anything you might talk to your friend about, and ask them about that.

Family Dentistry What does this mean? Part 2:

Whydo you needthesedetails about your patients? Do your patients really notice if you remember these details? If you write down these details will it be considered genuine? How does this affect how my office directly?

All good questions.  I think a more appropriate question is "why not"?Why not learn more about your patients?  How can it hurt you if you know when their anniversary is?  I believe it can't.  \

Family Dentistry.  You see it in every practice name.  You hear it on the radio.  You see it in every phone book. It's probably used even more than "We cater to cowards".  What does it mean?
 
Your staff thinks that you can treat every member of the family, from the grandparents to the babies. You put the phrase in your ads to be sure that you didn't turn away any potential patients.  Your office manager knows that you see babies before they get their teeth.

Technology in Patient Care

     This is a post from aprevious blogthat I wrote and then abandoned a little while ago. Hope you get something from it.
 
     I drove down route 91 north today and noticed a billboard forMercy Medical Center. The billboard stated they now had robotic surgery. Rosie from the Jetsons taking out your spleen? Why would a patient want robotic surgery? Why advertise this one point?
 
 
    Is it really robotic surgery that their patients want?

Shot at the buzzer

You hear it all the time. Get the ball to random sports hero for the winning shot at the buzzer.
 
The image of Jordan leaping into the air to after draining one to advance in the playoffs is forever burned on our retinas. "The Drive" with john Elway. Mark Messiersingle handedly willing The Rangers to win the Stanley Cup.
 
Everyone dreams of being that hero.
 
Wouldn't it be better to not even be in that situation?
 
Those late game heroics only happen because something was lacking for the entire game.

Growing Pains

Your sales rep is saying other dentists are down. Your specialists are calling a WHOLE LOT more than they ever did. You have holes in your hygiene schedule the size of the Grand Canyon. The presentation to that longtime patient just ended with the statement "Just take it out for now and we'll see where it goes." Where do you stop the bleeding?
 
Your assistant is recommending switching composites to save just a little.  Your sales rep is suggesting you buy one of those
